    TUNIS, March 31 (Reuters) – Tunisia’s goverment and the powerful UGTT labour union signed an economic reform package on Wednesday that tackles subsidies, taxes and state firms, Prime Minister Hichem Mehcichi said.

    Also on Wednesday, the U.S. State Department announced it was designating a U.S. branch of a Chinese government-controlled organization as a foreign mission and withdrawing from an agreement to promote local-level cooperation between the countries.

    The moves, announced by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo,were the latest to curb Chinese activity in the United States in the run-up to next Tuesday’s presidential election, in which President Donald Trump has made a tough approach to China a key foreign policy theme.

    Three Taliban sources said the Islamist militia had on Friday seized the Panjshir valley north of Kabul, the last province of Afghanistan holding out against it, although a resistance leader denied it had fallen. “By the grace of Allah Almighty, we are in control of the entire Afghanistan.     WASHINGTON, Oct 28 (Reuters) – Eight people have been charged with conspiring to work on China’s behalf in a plot involving threatening letters and the use of night vision goggles to surveil and coerce a Chinese family to return to their home country to face charges, according to a U.S.

    Jim Penman, owner of Jim’s Mowing, told Sunrise on Tuesday morning that ‘close to 1,000’ employees are unable to work despite being outdoors and as sole-operators, which he says breaks the government’s own Covid-safe guidelines. 

    ‘Look how rapidly its recovered since we passed the last piece of legislation. And that legislation was $1.9 trillion,’ he continued. ‘If we don’t invest in this country, we’re going to fall behind even further.’

    8 in the world in terms of infrastructure, for God’s sake,’ he told NBC’s Craig Melvin in a ‘Today’ show interview that aired Friday. ‘Is the private sector going to go out and build billions of dollars worth of highways? Ports? Airports? Bridges? Are they going to do that?’
